A fast growing hedge will act as a natural and attractive screen whilst increasing privacy. We offer both root ball and container grown hedging varieties.
Conifers are generally considered as the most economical way of achieving an established hedge, growing up to a 100cm a year. We offer container grown Leylandii (Cupressus x leylandii) and root ball Thuja plicata 'Martin' and Thuja Emerald (Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd'). It is important to note that because they are so fast growing they can be considered as high maintenance, requiring frequent trimming to ensure the lower foliage remains dense.
A popular alternative to conifer hedging is Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus ‘Rotundifolia’) which can grow up to 65cm a year. Laurel hedging is very versatile growing well in both sun and shade, but avoid planting in very exposed and windy sites (We recommend you see the hedging options included on our coastal hedging list).
